Art Deco Snake Belt Woven Gilt Metal: C1920 Britain

An extraordinary sinuous woven gilt metal snake belt or necklace dating from the 1920s Art Deco period.

With a pressed metal head this has particularly realistic features and, with the woven metal body, has the definite characteristics and ‘feel’ of a snake.

Where it was made we can only guess, but it fits well with this era of history and is incredibly chic and stylish.

You could wear it with a simple black dress as we have shown in our photographs, either as a long statement necklace, or around the waist or hips as a belt.

It has a clever hidden clip on the back of the snakes head which fixes to adjustable wire loop on the body.

Condition: In excellent antique condition with an overall patina of age, some indentations along the length of the woven metal where it has been worn on the past.
